# Brand comparison

There is no single "best" CGD. The major brands below are all nutritionally complete and widely used by top breeders. Variety is the point, rotate flavors and brands so the animal does not become food-fixated.

| Zoo Med | Crested Gecko Food | Widely available at pet chains. Considered a secondary option, use it alongside a premium brand, not exclusively. |

**Buying tip**

- Check the manufacture date on the pouch. CGD loses vitamin potency after roughly 12 months. Buy small pouches often rather than one giant bag.
- Freeze unopened pouches if you buy in bulk, sealed and frozen, shelf life extends to 18 to 24 months.
