Introduce the male into the female's enclosure, not the reverse, females are more territorial and less likely to tolerate a new male in their own space. Supervise the first introduction.

- Pair for 1 to 4 weeks, then separate. Some breeders run 2 to 3 weeks on, 2 weeks off through the season.
- Watch for excessive neck bites on the female. Small bite marks are normal; open wounds mean separate immediately.
- Keep detailed records: pair-up date, separation date, morph of both parents, project goals. A breeding log is the backbone of any serious project.
- Never pair full siblings unless you understand the genetic risks and have a specific project justification.
