**Also called:** Super Highway
**Rarity:** Rare
**Inheritance:** Incomplete dominant
**Category:** Pattern

**Definition.** A Highway crested gecko carries one copy of an incomplete-dominant trait associated with a continuous, clean dorsal stripe, provisionally placed on the same gene as Cappuccino and Sable.

Incomplete-dominant trait with a continuous, clean dorsal stripe. Provisionally the third version of the Cappuccino and Sable gene.

One copy makes a visual Highway and two copies make a Super Highway. Highway is treated as the third version of the Cappuccino and Sable gene, mainly because Super Highway hatchlings show nostril and health issues like Super Cappuccino; the community has not fully settled this, so it is still badged Emerging. A gecko holds two versions of the gene at most, so it can be Cappuccino plus Highway or Sable plus Highway. A clean, unbroken back also comes from Empty Back, Phantom and line-bred patternless animals, so a photo alone does not prove Highway.

**Key features:**
- Continuous, unbroken dorsal stripe
- Clean sides
- One copy is visible: no hidden het

**How to identify it:**
- Look for an unbroken stripe from head to tail base
- Confirm with documented lineage, since several genes and line-bred looks give a clean back

**Lookalikes and how to tell them apart:**
- Cappuccino (https://geckinspect.com/MorphGuide/cappuccino): Cappuccino and Highway are thought to be versions of the same gene; a clean-backed animal needs lineage to say which one it carries.
- Patternless (https://geckinspect.com/MorphGuide/patternless): Line-bred patternless animals can show a clean back with no Highway gene at all.
- Phantom Pinstripe (https://geckinspect.com/MorphGuide/phantom-pinstripe): A Phantom Pinstripe also reads as a quiet, unbroken back; Phantom is recessive and only lineage separates the two.

**Often combined with:** Cappuccino, Sable, Lilly White, Axanthic

**Notes.** Avoid Highway x Highway: Super Highway hatchlings have reported nostril and health issues. Pair Highway to a normal, or to a Cappuccino or Sable for a compound with no super.
