**Definition.** Phantom Pinstripe is a historical visual label for pinstripe-like raised back rows with reduced cream coloration; the label alone does not establish the animal's genetics.

A historical visual label that needs to be distinguished from genetic Phantom and reverse pinstripe.

Usage has changed across breeders and over time. Genetic Phantom is associated with suppression of parts of the usual pattern, and should be discussed using the breeder's lineage and model. The absence of a cream pinstripe is not enough to identify it. Reverse pinstripe instead describes a dark line below the crest row; it may occur alongside a visible cream pinstripe.

**Genetics models.** Foundation Genetics and AC Reptiles describe recessive Phantom models. Do not infer a carrier or homozygous state from a dark crest row or from the older phantom-pinstripe sale label.

**History.** The older appearance-based term and more recent genetic usage are not interchangeable.
