**Also called:** Pin
**Rarity:** Common
**Inheritance:** Polygenic
**Category:** Pattern
**Typical adult price:** $120 to $350

**Definition.** A Pinstripe crested gecko is a crested gecko whose raised scales along each side of the back are cream or yellow, forming two stripes that run from the neck toward the base of the tail.

Light coloration following the paired raised edges of the back.

Pinstripe is light coloration along the paired raised scale rows bordering the dorsal field. Full pinstripe describes continuous lines; partial pinstripe has interruptions. Follow each row separately in an overhead or oblique photograph. Broad cream on the back is a different feature.

**Genetics models.** Pinstripe completeness responds to selective breeding. Foundation Genetics proposes a dominant underlying trait with variable expression. The illustration controls visible continuity and cannot identify a heterozygous or homozygous animal.

**History.** One of the first named polygenic traits in the hobby, recognized by the early 2000s.

**Key features:**
- Light scales follow the two raised crest rows
- Full and partial describe continuity, not body color
- Can coexist with harlequin pattern, banding and spots

**How to identify it:**
- Use an overhead or oblique view to see both rows
- Distinguish the narrow crest rows from the broad dorsal field

**Lookalikes and how to tell them apart:**
- Phantom Pinstripe (https://geckinspect.com/MorphGuide/phantom-pinstripe): The historical phantom-pinstripe label concerns reduced cream on the crest rows; it does not by itself prove genetic Phantom.
- Harlequin (https://geckinspect.com/MorphGuide/harlequin): Harlequin describes flank and limb pattern and can coexist with pinstripe.

**Often combined with:** Harlequin, Cream, Phantom Pinstripe, Dalmatian, Lilly White, Axanthic

**Current asking prices (Geck Inspect Price Index, 2026-10-06).** Asking prices on public crested gecko listings, converted to USD, not sale prices. Full dataset: https://geckinspect.com/data/price-index.json

| Market | Listings | 25th percentile | Median | 75th percentile |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| United States | 949 | $150 | $249 | $350 |
| South Korea | 86 | $186 | $373 | $950 |
| Japan | 6 | $129 | $146 | $192 |

**Notes.** Sellers sometimes estimate pinning percentages, but viewing angle and scoring conventions vary. A dark line immediately below the raised row is commonly called reverse pinstripe; it is not synonymous with Phantom.
