# Super Sable

**Rarity:** Rare
**Inheritance:** Incomplete dominant
**Category:** Color modifier

**Definition.** Super Sable is the two-copy form of Sable; it appears viable but is thinly documented, so breeders check nostril openings at hatch.

Two copies of Sable. Appears viable but thinly documented.

Pairing two Sables gives about 25% Super Sable, and so does Luwak x Luwak. Super Sables appear viable, unlike Super Lilly White, and no pattern of health problems has been documented, but published records are few. Because Sable is widely reported to share a gene with Cappuccino, whose super form has serious nostril problems, the community norm is to check nostril openings at hatch on any super in this group. A Super Sable bred to a normal gives only Sable babies, which is how a breeder can prove one.

**Key features:**
- Two copies of Sable
- Appears viable, but thinly documented
- Bred to a normal, every baby is a Sable

**How to identify it:**
- Needs two Sable-carrying parents (Sable or Luwak)
- Dark color alone does not prove it

**Lookalikes and how to tell them apart:**
- Sable (https://geckinspect.com/MorphGuide/sable): One copy also gives dark, reduced-pattern tones; one copy versus two is hard to see, so use the parents.
- Luwak (https://geckinspect.com/MorphGuide/luwak): A Luwak has one Sable copy and one Cappuccino copy.

**Notes.** Super Sable x Cappuccino gives Luwaks and Sables, about half each, and never a super, under the one-gene model.
