# Translucent

**Also called:** Trans
**Rarity:** Rare
**Inheritance:** Line-bred
**Category:** Color modifier
**Typical adult price:** $400 to $1,200

**Definition.** Translucent describes visible translucency of skin, which alone does not establish a distinct crested gecko morph or inheritance model.

An appearance description requiring context, not a diagnosis from a photograph.

Thin juvenile skin and the ventral region can appear translucent. That observation should not be used by itself to identify a genetic trait. Compare age-matched animals and the breeder's supporting evidence.

**Key features:**
- Visible translucency, often most evident ventrally
- Age and lighting affect the observation
- Inheritance cannot be inferred from translucency alone

**Often combined with:** Axanthic, Lilly White, Cream, Harlequin

**Notes.** This is a visible-feature description. A sale label or photograph alone does not establish genotype. Breeders use some names and inheritance models differently.
