**Also called:** Tri, Tri-color
**Rarity:** Uncommon
**Inheritance:** Polygenic
**Category:** Combination
**Typical adult price:** $300 to $800

**Definition.** A Tricolor crested gecko shows three distinguishable colors, often a base color and two pattern colors; breeders vary in how much of each they require.

Three distinguishable colors, often on a harlequin pattern; visual grading varies.

Tricolor is named for its colors. A tricolor shows three distinguishable colors: the base color plus two pattern colors. Common sets are red, orange or yellow, and cream or white, or a dark base (black, brown or lavender) with orange or yellow and cream or white. Most tricolors are Harlequins or Extreme Harlequins; some are Pinstripes, and breeders often list both, as in "Tricolor Harlequin". It is one of the most common morphs on the market and is sold as a morph in its own right. Some breeders prefer evenly balanced colors, but that is a grading preference rather than a universal biological threshold. It is polygenic, so there is no single gene to test for.

**Key features:**
- Three distinguishable colors, without a universal equal-coverage rule
- Rides on a pattern, most often Harlequin, sometimes Pinstripe
- Most striking in fully fired-up state

**Lookalikes and how to tell them apart:**
- Harlequin (https://geckinspect.com/MorphGuide/harlequin): Tricolor describes distinguishable colors and can coexist with harlequin pattern; equal thirds are not a universal requirement.
- Bicolor (https://geckinspect.com/MorphGuide/bicolor): Bicolor emphasizes a contrasting dorsal region; tricolor describes three distinguishable colors.

**Often combined with:** Harlequin, Extreme Harlequin, Lilly White, Dalmatian, Pinstripe
