**Also called:** Yellow
**Rarity:** Common
**Inheritance:** Polygenic
**Category:** Base color
**Typical adult price:** $80 to $200

**Definition.** A Yellow Base crested gecko is a crested gecko whose ground color is a bright, saturated yellow.

Polygenic base color with bright yellow ground color, common and beginner-friendly.

Yellow base describes animals whose ground color is solidly yellow. One of the most common base colors. Strong yellow base animals display saturated, pure yellow rather than a muted or olive tone.

**Genetics models.** Traditionally lumped in with polygenic base color. Foundation Genetics models Yellow Base as a dominant, naturally hypo-melanistic base that serves as the substrate for combos like Cream and Buckskin. In practice both readings converge: yellow-based animals readily produce yellow-based offspring, and the depth of the yellow still responds to selective pairing.

**Key features:**
- Bright, saturated yellow ground color
- Common and widely available
- Works as canvas for most pattern types

**Often combined with:** Harlequin, Flame, Dalmatian, Pinstripe
