Super Cappuccino Crested Gecko
Super Cappuccino, also called Melanistic, is the two-copy form of Cappuccino; it hatches but has documented health problems, including narrowed nostrils and breathing difficulty.
Pairing two Cappuccinos gives about 25% Super Cappuccino. Unlike Super Lilly White, Super Cappuccinos usually hatch, but breeders document serious health problems: narrowed (stenosed) nostrils, breathing difficulty and poor thriving. Some breeders report that cooler incubation reduces the structural problems without removing them. For these reasons most breeders avoid Cappuccino x Cappuccino and the other pairings that can make one: Luwak x Luwak, Luwak x Cappuccino and Frappuccino x Cappuccino. Cappuccino to a normal, or to a Sable, never makes a Super Cappuccino.
Cappuccino x Cappuccino gives about 25% Super Cappuccino, 50% Cappuccino and 25% normal.
Inheritance: Incomplete dominant. Category: Structure. Rarity: rare. Breeding: health risk, avoid. Also called: Melanistic, Super Capp.
Key features
- Two copies of Cappuccino
- Documented narrowed nostrils and breathing difficulty
- Usually hatches, unlike Super Lilly White
How to tell it apart
- Cappuccino: A Cappuccino has one copy and none of the super form's documented health problems.
- Luwak: A Luwak has one Cappuccino copy and one Sable copy, so it is never a Super Cappuccino.
